The third cooperative principle is Member Economic Participation, and as a co-op, we are extremely proud of the fact that we are 100% capitalized by our Member-Owners and have $0 in bank loans or credit card debt. Members also have contributed the bulk of sales growth, accounting for around 64% of total sales. You are the lifeblood of our Co-op and we could not be here without you! "We live on an island! Disaster preparedness is absolutely crucial. Embracing greater resiliency and food security is in EVERYONE'S best interest. Please help us reach our goal!" - Natalie Menacho, Grocery Manager
Update: November 19, 2018
Donations: Last Thursday we unveiled a video featuring Senator Kevin Ranker, a passionate member of our co-op, along with other co-op team members as we launched our "Powering Community" GoFundMe campaign. As of writing this, 50 co-op members have contributed a total of $3,631 toward a generator for our co-op. Spreading the word is another way to help us reach our goal. You can use the following link to share with your friends via e-mail or social media https://www.gofundme.com/powering-community. If you would like to donate but would prefer to mail a check, please send to Orcas Food Co-op, PO Box 913, Eastsound, WA 98245.
Member Loans: Since launching this campaign just two weeks ago, we have raised $65,000 in loan pledges and extended startup loans. We are well on our way to reaching our goal! Now is a great time to invest in your co-op with a Member Loan. It's easy! You can lend as little as $1,000 and up to $50,000 and the terms are flexible, typically with a 5-year payoff. Can you make a loan? E-mail our General Manager, Learner Limbach @ firstname.lastname@example.org for more details or to set up an in-person meeting.
